Cotillion Cotillion is a 6th Grade only annual 6 week event. During the first 5 weeks the kids learn all series of dances from country to Disco and Ballroom. Each week is a different theme. On the last Friday of Cotillion the kids come together at CHHS for a formal party of dancing and celebration. Even though the boys are sometimes the last to sign up, usually by their MOMs (I'm one of the boy moms), there is always a good turn out and EVERYONE has fun. The boys are the most surprised by this. The interaction between the young men and young ladies is more formal than at any other school dance. Manners, pomp and circumstance are taught, expected and in some ways enjoyed by all. For example, the young ladies are escorted in and out of each night. Some boys, I've heard even bragged about how many girls they got to dance with or escort. It was a safe environment for all of them to learn how to interact without embarrassment or wondering what others thought. They all were doing the same things. Sign them up parents, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and a 6th grade memory for all! Think it isn't until January? Think again! Committee and volunteering opportunities already available.
